Using the low profile Series R enclosure from the deegee brand, PSR/*/*/LED-FIRE is a high-intensity, low-current L.E.D. warning beacon ideal for use with fire-alarm systems. Using high-intensity L.E.Ds. the beacon can achieve an effective luminous intensity of up to 115 Candela.

With a standard beacon flash rate of 60 flashes per minute, one of two synchronising modes (/SYNC) can be selected at time of installation using a jumper link.

In /SYNC mode 1 the units are connected in a network (output of beacon 1 to input of beacon 2 and so on) and all beacons will synchronise to beacon 1. In /SYNC mode 2 all beacons respond to a 5mS break in the power supply. This makes PSR/*/*/LED-FIRE perfect for use either individually or in a run for instance down a corridor, where synchronisation is essential to reduce stress on individuals during an emergency.

The systems designer can ensure that the unit is operated with maximum energy efficiency by selecting one of four brightness modes most appropriate to the application – 45Cd, 60Cd, 75Cd or 115Cd (default setting) – by way of two on-board jumper links.

The Series R enclosure is perfect for public and office installation.

Following a recent study at D. G. Controls Ltd, the LED version of the MIH Traffic Light and the SBU Single Colour Unit has been upgraded by fitting a plain polished lens plate, in preference to the ribbed lens previously fitted.

Given the application of the unit, and it’s directional characteristics, the new lens was trialled to establish whether this focussed more of the light in the forward direction than the ribbed lens was achieving. Whilst already a high light output unit, just by changing the lensing the measured output increased by a further 700%.

Firmly established as a top-seller in the deegee portfolio, the SBU/LED, and the MIH/2U/LED and MIH/3U/LED are used in a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications. Being ingress protected to IP65, and moulded from a robust polycarbonate, they offer an ideal solution where larger multi-status indication is required.

Multi-status indication from the same beacon is sometimes necessary due to restrictions on space. deegee has long had in its portfolio the MFE multi-function beacon, an LED beacon which has 360º viewing.

A single MFE LED beacon can give 8 different warning signals, switchable externally. Offering pulsed, wig-wag and chasing patterns, in several styles and flash rates, these beacons are well-suited to applications where low current draw is essential, the AC version drawing just 26mA at 230V and 45mA at 115V.

Available as a dual-voltage 115/230V AC and 12/24V DC unit, and in colours red, amber, green, blue and clear, the MFE is extremely versatile. The ABS base with polycarbonate lens is rated to IEC Protection Class IP65, making MFE equally effective in indoor, outdoor and dusty environments.

D. G. Controls has incorporated three products into one for its latest beacon upgrade

The IPN range of small LED panel boxes from D.G. Controls has been enhanced by the introduction of a STOP/GO variant. This has been designed specifically for traffic management in warehousing units, to advise when it is safe for pedestrians to cross, but is now also being used in automated industrial plants, and car-parks.

IPN STOP/GO is fitted with high brightness LEDs, with an operating life typically in excess of 100,000 hours.

It is bright enough to be read in bright sunlight, and measuring just 200mm x 150mm x 80mm deep, the IPN STOP/GO panel box is ideal for applications where the text needs to be readable from a distance, but where space is limited.

The housing is manufactured from UV-stabilised polycarbonate, and rated to IEC Protection Class IP65, ensuring it is fit for use inside and outside.

IPN STOP/GO is available in 24V DC and in 115V AC and 230V AC versions.

Mounting brackets are available which fix the panel box to a vertical wall, and a new mounting system has been developed for use with the IPN range, which enables fixing to a post.

MIH/2U and 3U Traffic Light beacons from deegee are proving a popular choice for some quite diverse applications, thanks to their robust build and excellent light output

In addition to the typical loading bay and site-traffic signalling applications, the MIH/2U and 3U, which can be supplied as either LED or filament lamp versions, are being chosen as the solution for a wider number of warning problems. Linked with the ‘Rising Bollard’ Security, which is becoming ever more popular at secure car-parking sites and Company premises, the MIH/2U is a safe and effective warning system to indicate to vehicles when it is safe to pass.

Being in traditional traffic light format, the MIH is easy to mount, and sturdy enough to withstand all weather conditions, being rated from -20oC to +55oC, and conforming to IEC Protection Class IP65.

However, MIH/3U is also being used as a level indicator to provide warnings for silo and tank-filling, linked to fill-monitoring systems.

The IP65 rating ensures the product is rugged against both water and dust, making it a good all-rounder for external and internal fitting.

DG Controls launches the latest addition to its deegee beacon range, the new ULP-LED beacon

ULP-LED has a full 360degree all-round and 180degree all-over viewing angle, but uses less than 1/6th of the power of the equivalent filament lamp version. Available as either a static (SB/ULP-LED) or a pulsed (PS/ULP-LED) beacon, both types are available for AC (dual voltage 115/230V) , and 12V or 24V DC voltage.

The low power consumption makes it the ideal choice where power is at a premium, or where heat output is a problem, for instance in a confined space.

Using the latest Superflux LEDs, which have a 90degree viewing angle, the ULP-LED beacon is the perfect combination of excellent light coverage and low-profile format.

ULP-LED would typically be mounted in the low profile R (SBR or PSR/ULP-LED) or S (SBS or PSS/ULP-LED) heavy-duty cast aluminium housings.

However, for a recent rail maintenance project, Inelmatic NV requested the robust W housing.

This has the same low profile lens as the R series of beacons, but mounts onto the black polycarbonate base, which has formed cable entries on each side.

The siting of the beacons meant that clearance was restricted, but at only 150mm overall height, and given the light output through the sides of the lens, the SBW/ULP-LED proved to be the ideal beacon for the contract.

An added feature of the ULP-LED is that it can be combined with a sounder module to offer a chime, mono or pulsed audible signal.

This adds only 8mm to the total height of the unit.

All of the deegee housings mentioned are rated to IEC Protection Class IP65.

Sales of deegee brand LED Plug-In Modules have been given a boost thanks to a new contract awarded to Inelmatec N.V./ S.A., the sole distributor for the deegee brand in Belgium.

Moulded with a B15d lamp cap fitting, the LED Plug-In Modules are being used across industrial sites to upgrade tower beacons. Replacing filament lamps, the Led Plug-Ins are being selected by engineers due to the long life-time.

Only 25mm in diameter, the LED Plug-In bayonet cap can be fitted to new and existing models of Stacker Beacons, Towers and Single Beacons.

High brightness Clear, Red, Amber, or Green coloured LEDs are fitted, and all versions are protected by a clear polycarbonate lens. 230V AC, 115V AC, and 24V UC (AC or DC) are available in all listed colours, and a 12V UC variant to special order.

With an estimated running life in excess of possibly 100,000 hours, maintenance can be severely cut. Cost-savings are also achieved due to the lower current draw compared with a filament lamp*.

Further detail on this and the entire deegee range can be found at www.deegee.com. Details of the Inelmatec N.V/ S.A. range can be viewed at www.inelmatec.be

* 24V unit draws 83% less current when fitted with the LED Plug-In versus a standard 5W filament lamp.
