Multi-Function (MFE) LED Beacons

Multi-status indication from the same beacon is sometimes necessary due to restrictions on space.  deegee has long had in its portfolio the MFE multi-function beacon, an LED beacon which has 360º viewing. 

A single MFE LED beacon can give 8 different warning signals, switchable externally.  Offering pulsed, wig-wag and chasing patterns, in several styles and flash rates, these beacons are well-suited to applications where low current draw is essential, the AC version drawing just 26mA at 230V and 45mA at 115V.

Available as a dual-voltage 115/230V AC and 12/24V DC unit, and in colours red, amber, green, blue and clear, the MFE is extremely versatile.  The ABS base with polycarbonate lens is rated to IEC Protection Class IP65, making MFE equally effective in indoor, outdoor and dusty environments.

Whilst the Deegee range includes both LED and xenon units, it is the xenon TXV/AC/230/TRA which has been selected for many of the major construction projects in Singapore, thanks to Deegee’s local distributor Sin Hai San Enterprise. Detecting the incoming AC ring signal, the TXV xenon beacon repeatedly triggers in time with the ring.

The V Housing for this product is a heavy duty polycarbonate, with a polycarbonate coloured lens.

The Deegee telephone activated beacons are available in other housings within the Deegee portfolio, including an explosion-proof LED variety.

This ultra-low current TP/DEX/LED beacon is driven entirely from the incoming ring signal, eliminating the need for an external power source.

Rated to IEC Protection Class IP66 and ATEX certified, the TP/DEX/LED is well-suited to extreme rugged Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas.

Combined beacon and sounder uses little power

A new ISB range of compact, IP65, low-current, combined flashing beacon and sounder units is being launched by DG Controls

These are particularly suitable for alarm systems where power is at a premium. All models incorporate a pulsed ring of high intensity red LEDs behind a red translucent polycarbonate sounder horn. The integral 110dB(A) sounder has 32 tones, selectable by internal DIP-switches, with the primary tone energised by a simple 2-wire connection and a secondary tone via a third wire.

Maximum volume can also be adjusted by internal preset.

Two basic housing styles are available.

The standalone ISB-E is built upon the same white ABS base as the popular Series E ‘High Dome’ beacon lamps to retain the traditional look-and-feel of this long-established range of visual indicators.  The ISB-E is also compatible with existing wall-mounting brackets and cage guards.

The ISB-T utilises the same black polycarbonate base as the Series T, U, V and W beacons, with its novel ‘ratchet’ linking system which allows two or more beacons and/or sounders to be clamped together as an integrated unit.

Versions for all popular supply voltages are offered: 12V DC, 24V DC, 115V AC and 230V AC.

DG Controls has overcome pressure group fears and concerns of epileptic attacks perceived as possible by the use of xenon strobe beacon lamps in fire alarm and evacuation systems.

Conventional rotating mirror beacons, while a preferred alternative, cause installers expensive powering problems.

Rotating beacon lamps have until now often been technically difficult to apply because of high current draw, whereas xenon strobe beacon lamps apparently overcame such problems.

The deegee model RFL rotating flashing beacon brings all the advantages of the sweeping rotating beam of light, but with a current draw below 1Amp at 24V DC, bringing it well within the scope of most fire alarm panel power supply units.
Early authorities to adopt these beacon lamps were the London Boroughs, where upgrading and initial fire installations at schools started the recognition of the advantages to both end users and installers alike.

This trend is spreading beyond the boundaries of London Boroughs to other areas of the country, where concerns over high inrush currents of good visibility synchronised flash xenon strobe beacon lamps, and perceived potential of hazards for epileptics have been overcome.

The RFL rotating flashing beacon lamp incorporates a high intensity halogen lamp and motor-driven revolving reflector.

A range of installation accessories is available, including protective cage guard and wall mounting brackets.

The beacon has a weatherproof injection-moulded housing, with a polycarbonate freznel dome lens that enhances light transmission.

Fitted with a red lens for fire installations, four other ex-stock lens colours are available.
